The why behind Yard Guard
Both Harley and Abel were diagnosed with anaplasmosis from tick exposure, and both have extremely sensitive skin that made traditional tick collars and medications difficult to tolerate. Doing nothing wasn’t an option—but relying on harsh chemicals didn’t feel right either.
We wanted something that truly worked, without introducing toxins into the same spaces where our dogs rest, play, and live. That search led us to plant-based, non-toxic solutions designed to protect against ticks and other pests while staying gentle on skin, bodies, and the environment.

Our plant-based treatments are powered by cedarwood oil, which works by targeting octopamine—a compound that is essential to the nervous systems of pheromone-driven pests such as ticks and fleas. By disrupting this process, the treatment helps repel and control these pests naturally.
Beneficial insects, including bees and butterflies, do not rely on octopamine in the same way for their vital systems. Because of this difference, they are not affected by the treatment as targeted pests are.
Independent laboratory testing has confirmed that any residue remaining after application is not harmful to beneficial insects, including honey bees, butterflies, and lady beetles—allowing effective pest control while preserving the balance of the surrounding ecosystem.

No. As long as we have access to your yard, you do not need to be home during treatment. We’ll let you know when service is scheduled and follow up once the application is complete.

To ensure consistent quality and personal care, our services are currently available within approximately 20 minutes of Lake Tomahawk.
